Bookworm Online
Created in 2009 as the Capstone Project for my Web Development Degree, Bookworm Online was a project involving a number of Web Students with the express purpose of building a viable e-Commerce website that could potentially be sold for profit. We were tasked to create everything, from the visuals to the back end programming, from scratch, and we had approximately two and a half months to do so.
Originally, I was the design staff. The initial concepts for the site layout and its flow were of my design, as well as the finalized Book Worm Online Logo, which was done in part with graphics concepts from a fellow student. However, as the development of the project continued, the Programmers fell behind and I was shifted over to revamping the entire back-end of the site.
In what should have been a two to three month project, I needed to reprogram the site in a total of two weeks. While I was able to get the site up and running, the end product had a shopping cart that did not connect to a payment gateway, but all other aspects of the site - accessing the database, pulling and generating books, as well as user login - were working. The entire site had been done using Visual Basic.NET.
The website is not currently available for viewing, unfortunately, as the host which we had contracted for the site has since gone offline, due to the fact we needed to find a specialized .NET compatible web host.
